No Needle Vasectomy
UAR is the first practice in the Rochester area to offer the no needle vasectomy. A new, less-invasive vasectomy option offered by Urology Associates of Rochester is intended for men who have avoided a vasectomy due to a fear of needles or due to the pain associated with the procedure.
In a traditional vasectomy, a provider inserts a needle into the scrotum to anesthetize the area around each vas deferens prior to the procedure. During the new procedure, the anesthetic is delivered with a no needle jet injection.
"For some men, the traditional vasectomy can be scary and painful choice for permanent birth control," said Laurence Donahue, M.D.. "Our new, no needle alternative is designed to alleviate patient fears and to reduce the pain associated with the procedure."
